The weatherboards would have needed to have all the paint stripped, undercoated and then painted, also some of the boards had dry rot along with the timber facias on the gables.The gutters needed replacing along with the downpipes and the facias also needed painting.

The eaves also needed repair. The terracotta roof needed a restoration, as it was covered in lychee, the pointing of the tiles was in a bad way

The backalite fittings on the power line point of attachment to the home needed to be changed. (the Tiger tails were removed after the job was finished, they are there to protect my tradesmen.) Now have a look at the after photo!

The existing weatherboards have had all the dry rot cut out and been covered with Palliside UPVC weatherboards.

The roof has had all the broken tiles replaced, cleaned, antifungicided, rebeded and pointed, as you can see it looks just like a new roof!

The rotten facia boards on the gables were removed and the Palliside weatherboards finish under the tiles to give a cleaner look.

All the gutters,downpipes and barges were changed to colorbond,the facias were also covered. The eaves and verandahs were lined with Icon eave sheet. No more painting for this Parramatta Ermington Sydney Home Renovation

The only mainenance required is a wash and this cottage will look like new for another 50 plus years

Next we installed colorbond gutter over new colorbond facia cover, the gutter we use has a slotted front so that when we have really heavy rain the excess water will run out through the slots in the front and not back into the eaves which causes mildew and dry rot problems. The eaves were clad in Icon eave sheet. New aluminium windows were installed with fly screens and security locks and new reveals and architraves inside the home, all the windows were tailor made to fit exactly, so all the blinds and curtains fitted!

And lastly Australian made and engineered Palliside UPVC weatherboard cladding was installed over the old fibro.

It is the attention to detail that makes the renovation complete! The Mount Druitt Sydney Cladding Renovation home is now maintenance free and it only has to be hosed down to remove any dirt and grime.

I also insulated the roof and fixed a colorbond roof .Because the home has a second storey I also installed ventilators on the roof to eliminate heat build up in the ceiling cavity.The gutters, facia, and downpipes in colorbond to match the roof were fitted.

The eaves and all the verandah ceilings were fitted with Icon eave sheeting which gives the appearance of a v -jointed weatherboard, which does not ever need to be painted. Bracey cladding windows were fitted. Palliside has a 25 year guarantee. It will not fade, powder,warp or burn.

This Northern Beaches Sydney home requires no maintenance apart from hosing to clean surface dust. I did some calculations with the owner prior to commencement and we calculated that the savings on maintenance were as follows:

• Scaffolding / erection and weekly hire – $12500.00
• Painting / labour / preparation and materials-$21000.00
• Even calculated at todays prices the saving on painting every 7 years would be $33500.00 per paint job!

BEFORE: Imported Canadian Vinyl Cladding

The home was already clad in imported Canadian vinyl cladding. The vinyl cladding had faded,was powering and had become distorted from our Australian sun. It needed replacing! The home was stripped of the Canadian made vinyl cladding. The windows already installed were Bracey cladding windows which were left. We then recladded the house in Australian engineered and made solid Palliside (Type A, construction quality) UPVC weatherboards which are guaranteed not to fade,power or warp for 25 years in Australia’s harsh climate. Note the rusticated corners for that Australian authentic weatherboard look. ( click ) The old asbestos fibro eaves were covered in Icon Plastics V panel eave sheeting. Next we installed Colorbond gutter, facias and downpipes. And the final touch was a genuine Australian bullnose verandah. A home that will look brand new for years and years to come!

In the 1980′s an aluminium awning was added to cover the patio of the original home and another awning was attached above the front bedroom window and aluminium windows were installed. By 2013 it was in need of a facelife and so we went to work!

Palliside UPVC weatherboards were installed over the old timber weatherboards, insulating the home and eliminating the need for painting ever again. Rainwater system was renewed using Colorbond gutters ,facia cover and down pipes to eliminate painting. Icon UPVC eave sheeting, which never needs painting, was fitted to cover the existing asbestos eave sheeting.

A colonial window hood replaced the old brown and white one over the front window. A new colorbond awning replaced the old aluminium one over the patio. The terracotta roof tiles were restored,cleaned anti-fungicide applied, broken tiles replaced, the ridges and gables re-beded and repointed in flexipiont. And lastly the red texture bricks were clad in sandstone cladding. A new home!

We made everything old new again. Firstly we stripped the roof and replaced the battens and then laid an insulating foil blanket ,then a new colorbond roof.(click) New colorbond gutters and facias were fitted. A bullnose verandah replaced the old, a window hood over the new front window. click here A gable set with finial was added. The eaves were cladded with Icon eave cladding system click here New Bracey aluminium windows and sliding doors with a 70 mm external architraves, (as part of the window) with fly screens security locks,and laminated glass (used for extra insulation and security) were fitted with dressed maple architraves and reveals to match the existing internal timber around doorways. Some of the windows were changed to new sizes to match the new use of rooms with tyne internal renovation. Palliside insulating UPVC weatherboard cladding was fitted to the home after the the old aluminium cladding was stripped off. Note: Palliside will not FADE or POWER. The home is now the best looking in the street and reflects the original architecture.

We reclad the gables in Palliside UPVC weatherboards which never needs painting, battening them out to cover the old barge boards that are full of dry rot which was cut out before cladding. Dry rot is a fungus and developed when the moisture content of timber reaches 28-30%, stop the moisture you stop the dry rot.

This house had previously been brick veneered an as a result the eaves are uneven and had to be straightened. We installed Icon UPVC eave sheet which never needs painting to line the soffits (eaves).

Colorbond guttering, facia boards and downpipes were installed.

Because of the height of the gables, eaves etc.every time painting was required (every 6 years or so because the home is 200m from the ocean and the salt spray). Scaffolding and insulating power lines was required by Work Cover at a cost of about $4500. Plus the cost of painting and repairing of timber effected by dry rot!
