Since the 1970s fibro and weatherboard homes has become the norm so that painting can be eliminated, because of its high cost and the frequency required in Australia’s harsh climate. The first material to be used was aluminium, but it was found to dent easily and after time the coating faded it was also like living in a tin shed. In the 1980s vinyl siding was being imported from the USA and Canada but this was found to not be up to our climate. Because it was thin, faded, powdered, warp in the sun, peeled off the walls in strong winds, became brittle and was smashed by hail.

It will not support combustion and can be used in bush fire zoned regions of Australia (Palliside is being used in the reconstruction of homes in the bush fired ravaged areas of Victoria). It can be used in tropical cyclone region C or terrain category 3 as defined in the wind loading code AS1170.2. Palliside has a UV protection layer designed uniquely for Australia. The anti-capillary channel when the boards are locked together prevents vermin, moisture and wind getting behind the walls. It is simply cleaned with soapy water.
