Since the 1970s fibro homes and weatherboard homes in Sydney have been clad in Permalum aluminium cladding, Alcan aluminium siding, imported aluminium cladding materials, vinyl siding / cladding (both imported and manufactured in Australia) in order to eliminate painting, but only with limited success.
