Why Choose Aluminium Doors and Windows
Aluminium is fast becoming one of the more popular choices among homeowners when it comes to doors and windows.
With so many alternatives to choose from, you might ask yourself why you would want to hop on the bandwagon and choose aluminium doors and windows over their counterparts. Here, we take a look at aluminium’s inherent benefits when used as framing for doors and windows:
Cost
Aluminium is a far less expensive option than wooden framed doors and windows. On top of initial costs, they are also easier to maintain, making them the cost-effective choice for homeowners who are on a tighter budget.
Strength
Aluminium is light, extremely malleable, and easy to work with yet very sturdy. They withstand adverse weather conditions better than wood. Compared to conventional door types, aluminium-framed doors are far less prone to warping.
Colour Choices
Aluminium can be powder coated or anodised, giving you more colour choices. This means you can easily customise it to fit in with your home’s colour scheme.
Energy Efficiency
One of aluminium doors and windows’ top selling points is that they are energy efficient. Because of their wind, water, and air-resistance, they make exceptionally energy efficient doors and windows. You get warmer homes with lower energy bills when you have them installed.
Fire Resistance
Safety is one of the top selling points of aluminium doors and windows. Unlike wooden counterparts that are highly flammable, aluminium-framed doors and windows are fire-resistant. This makes them a popular choice among many homeowners who have safety and fire prevention in mind.

Different Kinds of Terracotta Roof Tiles
Roofs always have to be in the best condition and made from premium materials. Terracotta is one of the top choices when it comes to durable roof tiles. This is made from clay fired in a furnace to make it more sturdy and compact. It delivers more benefits than just its innate physical proficiency.
Terracotta tiles are relatively fire-proof. These are ideal for houses with surrounding trees, power lines, and those closely situated with neighbouring houses. Moreover, this type of roofing can provide additional insulation to your house. It reflects the heat of the sun in summer and traps the warm air inside during winter, allowing you to reduce your expenses on air conditioning systems.
Compared to traditional wood and asphalt shingles and corrugated iron, terracotta tiles can last for 100’s of years; with proper care, it can last for over 1000 years. Maintaining this type of roof is not a difficult task, as well. It can withstand weather elements and deter damage from all other matters.
With these advantages, choosing terracotta tiles for your roof is highly recommended. They are available in different kinds, giving you the option to select what suits your property roofing needs.
Plain
This represents the usual appearance of the roof tile, having a square or rectangular shape with dimensions of 10.4” x 6.5“. Traditional Mediterranean houses commonly have this kind of terracotta tile. Other old British residences have similar shingles. It can be hand-made or factory-produced.
Peg
This is typically just a plain tile, although it has small holes for easier placement. The holes make it easier for roofers to fit it without disrupting other tiles. Peg tiles are practical to use in repair or replacement projects of a few shingles. If you’re going to renovate the whole roof, this kind of tile may not be suitable.
Ornamental
Ornamental tiles have a small detail on the bottom of each shingle. It has no functional contribution, though it makes the roof look more pleasing. These come in different forms, from pointed tips to bull nose tiles with semi-circle edges.
Camber
This terracotta tile is arched before being flamed in furnaces. It can either be a single or a double. Single tiles have one big arch, while double tiles have two smaller arches. This creates a wavelike appearance on the roof when viewed from below. Double-camber tiles are known to have better wavy looks than singles.
Choosing terracotta tiles as the material for your roofing is just the first step. At Peter & Lesley Bracey Home Improvements, we offer complete terracotta tile roof restoration services. Contact us to see how we can transform your home.
Choosing Palliside Cladding Before Fibre Cement Board Siding
Fibre cement cladding is an environmentally sustainable exterior siding option, created from wood fiber (usually waste product), cement, and sand. Fibre cement cladding is simple to create, costs significantly less than vinyl to manufacture, and is easy to affix to a home. But the upkeep of fibre cement cladding is extensive—it requires regular repainting, and cleaning to ensure that the cladding is resistant to weather, pests, and deterioration.
Palliside cladding, on the other hand is weather resistant, virtually resistant to peeling, splinting, or rotting. It’s thicker than other house cladding materials and is specifically designed for homes in Australia, where weather is extreme.
The Weather Resistant Benefits of Palliside Cladding
Palliside cladding resists most common hazards, like fire, wind damage, insects, and water warping. It can withstand cyclone region C or terrain category 3, meaning that it protects Australian homes particularly well. Ideal for all climates, Palliside cladding is impervious to rot, as they are designed with anti-capillary channels that repeal water, and unlike other traditionally green housing materials, Palliside cladding is termite-resistant.
Because Palliside Cladding can be customized to any color before installation, the possibilities are endless for home improvement, whether home owners are renovating or building a new home from the ground up. The color is solid throughout the cladding, meaning the color is impervious to fading, peeling, or blistering. And because Palliside Cladding doesn’t warp or flex with the seasons, it won’t flex, bubble, or snap in extreme weather conditions.
The decision to upgrade your home can be intimidating. I want to help you though every step of the process, from first consultation to final installation. How Palliside Cladding is Stabilising House Siding Across the Country
Timber cladding is one of the most preferable siding options, allowing home owners a beautiful and natural finish. Aesthetically, timber makes a beautiful first impression on the exterior of a home and can also be painted or stained, changing the color with minimal effort.
But what if you could have all the beauty of timber cladding without the extreme upkeep and various risks? No re-staining, no sealing, no painting, and best of all, virtually no fire risk—the classic look with no risks. Palliside cladding is an innovative exterior siding that keeps home protected from weather, pests, and fire.
Palliside Cladding For Protectiom
Timber is a green product, and has proven sustainable for years. As a natural barricade from the elements, timber cladding falls short. Timber is extremely flammable, making it the worst choice for homes in a dangerous brush fire region. Due to Australia’s extreme heat during the summer months, Palliside cladding is a much safer option. It’s a composite material that doesn’t support combustion, and is virtually impervious to fire.
Because palliside cladding is designed to mimic the beautiful look of traditional timber siding, there’s almost no visual difference. And Palliside is designed in a variety of colours, ensuring that you have the most control over your home’s appearance, with no painting or staining upkeep. The Palliside needs to be cleaned with soap and water occasionally, but will not fade, buckle, or splinter.
Exterior cladding can be a daunting decision to make. I want to help you make the best choices for your home, and streamline the process as much as possible. Call me at Peter Bracey and Palliside Cladding Renovations in Sydney to discuss which Palliside options are most aligned with your desires, and how to achieve those goals.
Let Palliside Cladding Protect Your Home From Wind and Hail
Australian weather patterns presents a challenge to home owners in protecting and maintaining the exterior of their houses. The temperature extremes put stress on the exterior walls of our homes, causing most siding options to wear and tear and break down with the seasons. Unlike timber cladding, which will peel, splinter, and requires consistent yearly care, Palliside home cladding is tough, durable, and protects your home from any weather.
Palliside cladding is specifically designed for Australian weather—being equally prepared for the biting cold and extreme heat makes it a top pick in the choice of cladding materials. With a thickness of 7mm, palisade is prepped for the wind and hail in the winter months and the unpredictable storms we often endure.
Protecting Your Home is Easy
Palliside is over five times thicker than traditional vinyl cladding, the reason why it comes out on top in regards to protection capabilities. The thicker siding is designed to lock in to the piece above and below it, to ensure that wind and moisture can’t penetrate the boundary. It’s extremely durable compared to other siding options, and the cellular foam construction ensures that typical weather patterns won’t split or damage the cladding.
Palliside cladding is also designed with a durable inner core, which protects each interlocking piece from buckling and warping, as well as preventing extreme damage from hail—the pieces simply can’t break through.
There are a wide variety of choices available to you as a home owner, and I want to help you every step of the way. Keep in mind that Palliside cladding is the most cost-effective, durable, and innovative siding available in Australia today. Designed to protect home owners from typical Australian weather, this cladding option is low maintenance and safe. When you decide to upgrade your home siding, contact Peter Bracey and Palliside Cladding Renovations in Sydney to schedule a consultation and discuss what Palliside options are right for you.

Ryde Area Sydney Home Cladding Renovation
Mount Druitt Sydney Cladding Renovation
Because I am a fully licensed and insured builder the majority of my work is not only cladding, but a complete home make over.
The following home was a typical fibro housing commission home.
So I started with the concrete tiled roof! Replaced any broken tiles, cleaned the roof, applied a sealer filler coating, then 2 applications of Nu-Tech 2000 roof membrane and finally we top pointed the ridges, by pointing after the roof has been coated it doesn’t look like it is a painted roof you get the appearance of a new tile roof. Note we do not use paving paint but a roof membrane! This roof will look new for another 30-40 years.
Next we installed colorbond gutter over new colorbond facia cover, the gutter we use has a slotted front so that when we have really heavy rain the excess water will run out through the slots in the front and not back into the eaves which causes mildew and dry rot problems.
The eaves were clad in Icon eave sheet. New aluminium windows were installed with fly screens and security locks and new reveals and architraves inside the home, all the windows were tailor made to fit exactly, so all the blinds and curtains fitted!
And lastly Australian made and engineered Palliside UPVC weatherboard cladding was installed over the old fibro.
It is the attention to detail that makes the renovation complete!
The Mount Druitt Sydney Cladding Renovation home is now maintenance free and it only has to be hosed down to remove any dirt and grime.
